Gorgeous George (our Siberian Husky) and I are self-confessed mall rats! In this regard, I declare that by far the most impressive of venues of such kind to open in mall-crazy Bangkok is Emquartier. Barely 6 months old, Emquartier has already impressed thousands of visitors from around the world. The developers reportedly spent 30Billion Baht (about Php 39Billion) to give a most pleasurable and unforgettable kind of shopping and dining experience! And boy have they been quite successful!
Emquartier is actually part of a triumvirate of malls. The two others are (newly renovated) the Emporium, (still to be completed) the Emsphere. Amidst them three is the BTS (sky train) Phrom Phong Station, Sukhumvit line. Of course you wouldn’t expect dirt cheap stuff here but mid-range brands like Uniqlo, Zara, and H & M to high-end brands such as Chanel, Prada, plus Dolce and Gabbana. One’s spoilt for food choices here from the most affordable but delicious treats at the food court on the basement, to the scrumptious delights from middle level restaurants on the higher floors like Nara and Four Seasons, and finally to the sinful but heavenly grub on the ground level beside the Gourmet Market from highly respected food traders such as Fauchon, Laduree, Harrods, Dean and Deluca, plus Pierre Herme!
But what really impressed me most about the people behind Emquartier is the value they give to the arts and greenery! There are wide open spaces solely dedicated to art exhibitions and installations. Add to that a garden located on the 5th level (or 6th) aptly called The Water Garden. They’ve likewise got The Quartier Waterfall!
I shall eventually delve into the shopping and dining experience. In the meantime, let’s relish aestheticism within a mall! Cheers!
