We weren’t exactly expecting much from Bohol Beach Club because of the fact that it is the oldest resort on the island of Panglao. I wanted to be surprised and I didn’t bother checking it out on the Internet. I was picturing a run-down, dilapidated, ill-maintained resort.
A couple of days before our flight, we called the resort to ask for an airport to hotel transfer (pick-up from the Tagbilaran City Airport). The cheery voice from the front desk that received our call was a good sign. Jordan was able to answer all our queries satisfactorily including our request for a ground floor room located quite close to the swimming pool area and the beach if possible. No promise was given. He gave the usual response that it would all depend on room availability. It was his calm, reassuring tone that eased my mind.
Our Cebu Pacific flight was pleasant as to be expected and we landed in just over an hour from Manila a little past 7am. And guess who met us with a wide welcoming smile? It was Jordan the front office staff we spoke with a couple of days earlier! Turned out it was his airport duty day to welcome guests!
Noel was the most pleasant driver we’ve had! Just like Jordan, he answered all of our questions impressively with the obvious knowledge of the resort, Panglao Island, Bohol, even Cebu! It was Noel who revealed to us that the resort had closed down in 2013 and underwent a major renovation and facelift and re-opened in early 2014!
Upon reaching the BBC’s (Bohol Beach Club) lush and well-manicured driveway, I knew I would have a wonderful time! Efficient and friendly Khent Jane welcomed and checked us in a jiffy and we were already unpacking our stuff in our cozy room by half past 8!
The whole resort’s gleaming and I honestly reckon they tore down the old structures and built new ones! The gardens and the whole surrounding areas are immaculate. It was a chore to even locate a single fallen dried leaf from any of their countless trees!
Spotlessly clean rooms (all with balconies), fantastic and affordable food, terrific swimming pool, astoundingly picturesque sand and sea, and most important of all – superb, warm service: that’s Bohol Beach Club!
Can’t wait to pack our bags again!
P.S. Every member of the hotel’s staff was warm and efficient. Kudos most especially to Jordan, Khent Jane, and Eva of Front Office; Londale of Engineering; Prince of Housekeeping; Michael of pool area; Rafael, King, Raymund, Avito, Jonas, Ralph, and Enrique of Food and Beverage; and to Noel Toyogon our driver! It’s pretty evident that all of them are happy with their jobs at the resort! Congratulations to the manager, Mr. Allan Santos!
